1641

his Estonian language wedding song was written for the wedding held at Padise in summer 1641 by the young Daniel Göbel, who came from the environs of Halle in Germany, studied theology at the University of Wittenberg and became pastor of Kirbla. By that time several rooms in the former monastery at Padise had been elegantly reconstructed, as can be seen in the eighth verse : „meil on nüüd luba / meil on üks tuba / üks kaunis säng ning eluhoon’ / – seepärast vilja / vara ning hilja / ma annan sul, öö aukroon“(we have a licence and we have a room, we have a beautiful bed and home, and that is why working early and late I will supply you with corn, queen of the night).
